The Musheireb Boutique Hotel is nestled in the heart of the vibrant Souq Waqif district in Doha and is a true gem for travellers who have a short transit and would like to have an authentic Doha experience. The hotel is perfectly positioned and you have to just step outside and you are immediately surrounded by the bustling marketplace.

The Musheireb Boutique Hotel is part of the renowned Souq Waqif Boutique hotels by Tivoli collection, which is a group of 8 unique properties that celebrate Qatari heritage through restored buildings and traditional Arabian architecture. While the hotel itself is a modern tribute to Khaleeji elegance, it sits within a neighbourhood steeped in history.

I've stayed in the Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels twice now and absolutely love the surprise of not knowing which of the 8 properties you would be housed in. Previously, I was lodged in Al Mirqab and this time we were housed in Musheireb Boutique Hotel. Always a pleasant surprise. How does it work? When you go to the Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels by Tivoli collection, you see a variety of rooms available, each room actually indicates a different hotel (Musheireb, Al Mirqab, Al Bidda, Al Jasra, Al Jomrok, Arumaila, Bismillah and Najd) and you can choose a room that suits you best.

For all hotels, you would check in at Arumaila and upon check in, the hotel staff would have a golf cart to shuttle you around. It was also a beautiful way to see the souq and get your orientations right. Do note that not every building has amenities, although you are able to access the amenities of another hotel easily. But if you want the pool at your doorstep, then Al Mirqab would be your hotel of choice. Similarly, if you would like a hammam experience, Al Jasra would be your choice.

We stayed at Musheireb this time and it is a 14 room boutique hotel that is absolutely gorgeous. At 30 sq, we had everything we needed. The room was decorated in a laidback luxury with distinctly Arabian flair and an interior that blends traditional motifs with modern comforts. We paid 95 SGD for the night and thought it was extremely great value. Unfortunately this time round we did not stay for breakfast as our flight out was early at 7 am and we had breakfast at the airport lounge instead. But we did have a very comfortable rest before our journey to the airport.

The hotel is extremely close to the Camel pens close to the Al Jasra area at Souq Waqif. It is a 5 min walk and we had a great time observing the camels up close and watching the caretakers at work and learning about how camels have played an important role in Qatari culture. We learnt that the handlers are referred to as the camels of the royal guard, and this symbolizes their pestige and the country's Bedouin heritage. Further down, the main souq is accessible and we will write another post about what to expect in the souqs of Qatar in the next post. In general, this hotel was extremely accessible, and provides a great way to explore the souq.

Would We Recommend?

Definitely yes! Musheireb Boutique Hotel was extremely charming, it smelt amazing all the time and we barely saw anyone during our one night stay. I think this is one of the highlights of staying in a boutique hotel that has only 14 rooms. It is within the souq and the best place to wander around. Our highlight was the staff at Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels by Tivoli. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and polite and nice. They shared stories about the Souq and made us feel very welcomed all the time, which was such a delight.
