Hilton Kyoto - Fantastic Gem in Kyoto

Hilton Kyoto

416 Shimomaruyacho,

Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto,

604-8006, Japan

Location

The Hilton Kyoto is located in the Kawaramachi Sanjo district, which makes it a highly accessible area to key tourist locations as well as shopping. It is conveniently placed along Kawara-Machi street and walkable to the downtown Shijo area, Kamagawa River, Gion and Ponto Cho. We found it to be a fantastic base for exploring Kyoto. The building itself is gorgeous, once you walk in, you see these high panels of wood that reminds you of a calm modern meditation ground.

Our Stay

We stayed here as Hilton Gold members and received the following benefits:

  • Late Check Out

  • Daily Breakfast for 2

  • Room Upgrade

For this particular stay, we were upgraded from a King Deluxe Room priced at 257 SGD to a King Deluxe Room City View priced at 265 SGD. I wouldn't say there is much of an upgrade, considering the city view looks directly into the road and the main street. The value of this upgrade is 8 SGD, a little poor, although the next upgrade would mean access to the executive lounge, where I guess Hilton draws the line.

The rooms here at Hilton Kyoto combine modern design with clean Japanese aesthetics, creating an extremely spacious and calming atmosphere that stands out to be larger than most by Japanese standards. The careful attention to detail reflects minimalist Japanese elegance and we felt extremely comfortable throughout our stay. Service through the hotel is attentive and professional, with staff ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience. As usual, we enjoyed our daily change of pyjamas whilst here at Hilton Kyoto.

Breakfast

The breakfast offered at Hilton Kyoto is remarkable, showcasing a very generous variety of Japanese and Western food selections and a really gorgeous selection of pastries and matcha related delights. The buffer is well-organized with clear labels to distinguish between different cuisines and has been catered thoughtfully to all guests. Hilton status guests benefit from additional complimentary drinks and recognition of status with Hilton. The breakfast atmostphere strikes a balance between being lively during peak hours and peaceful when the crowd dissipates. We also had a really nice barista made espressos here, which was a great way to start the day.

For breakfast, we peg this to the price of a local brunch and for this, we value the breakfast at Hilton Kyoto to be 20 SGD x 2.

Facilities

Hilton Kyoto has an extremely beautiful indoor heated pool that remains peaceful once the morning family rush subsides. It is so pretty and calm and perfect after a day of exploring around Kyoto. The gym is considered large by Japanese standards and was well equipped for a full workout session.

As usual, we utilised our late check out benefit to spend the day lounging and as usual, we will value this at 10 % of the rate of the hotel room we booked at, making it 25 SGD.

Overall

It was a really nice stay, with the service being impeccable to the point we departed. We needed assistance with Yamato to deliver our luggage to our next destination and the team walked us after check out to the appropriate service desk and helped us all the way through, even calling our next hotel to confirm that we were able to receive our luggage.

Overall in terms of value and savings, we paid 257 SGD and received a total of 73 SGD, pretty good value I would say:

  • Room Upgrades: 8 SGD

  • Late Check Out: 25 SGD

  • Breakfast: 40 SGD

Would We Recommend?

Absolutely Yes! If you have been looking around, you would know that hotels in Kyoto are not necessarily cheap, especially if you are looking for a 5 star hotel, with some in the ranges of 2K and beyond. Hilton Kyoto sit at an extremely affordable price point for what it offers and definitely a hotel we would return to when we visit Kyoto.
