Rokumei Coffee, Tokyo Station
1 Chome−9−1 JR東日本東京駅構内 B1F 改札外 グランスタ
Chiyoda City, Marunouchi,
〒100-0005 Tokyo, Japan
Rokumei Coffee Tokyo Station branch is a relatively new addition to Tokyo Station. Opening in Jul 2024, it is located in GRANSTA Marunouchi. The cafe is open from 7 am all the way till 10 pm, which makes it great for those who are travelling via Tokyo Station.
About Rokumei Coffee, the cafe originates from Nara and was founded in 1974. Under the guidance of chief barista and roaster Hiroshi Ida, who won the Japan Roasting Grand Prix in 2018. The shop front at Tokyo Station is simple, calm and has a wide selection of coffee and merchandise as well as a relatively small standing and sitting area towards the back of the cafe. I must say the merchandise here is extremely cute and attractive, and includes area specific highlights, like the Tokyo Blend filter bags which makes it a superb souvenir.

We visited during Autumn, a particularly popular season for chestnut themed treats and so we had to have their chestnut latte and chestnut croissant, along with the Tokyo blend filter coffee. The chestnut latte was mellow, sweet with hints of roasty chestnut while the croissant was flaky and buttery with some chunky bits of chestnut. The perfect treat for a cold morning. The Tokyo Blend we had balanced and easy, with a mix of beans from Guatemala, Brazil and Kenya, medium roasted. Whilst not excitingly special, it is a nice everyday type of coffee.

The sitting area in the cafe was such a god-send to the bustling Tokyo station, there were locals and travellers who were just taking time out of their busy days to enjoy their coffee. Some were there with books, some on their phone, but it was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. It was so interesting to experience this within the busy Tokyo station.

Would We Recommend?
Yes if you need a pick me up prior to your Shinkansen journey. Rokumei is open from 0700 - 2200 and that makes it a fantastic place to pick up a coffee. If you are a coffee snob or take your single origins very seriously, this is not your place, it is a no frills, simple cafe which won't satisfy your specialty coffee requests.
