Kuala Lumpur City Centre
50088 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of KL, Malaysia

The name Dewakan is a play on the words "Dewan" and "Makanan" which means "God" and "Food" respectively. With 2 Michelin stars and No. 56 on the Asia's Top Restaurants List, Chef Darren Teoh steers the helm of a very tight ship, as evidenced from the moment we arrived. Everyone in his kitchen came out to greet us and brought us through the open kitchen, explaining where they source their produce, the different stations for the different courses as well as their wall of pickles made from off cuts or discards from prep to minimise waste.
The restaurant is located on L48 at Naza Tower, which is an office building. Upon verification with the security staff, they would escort you through the security access and send you on your way to L48. The restaurant has an amazing panoramic view over KL city, including an extremely grand view of KLCC. We were lucky to get one of the front tables and therefore had an unobstructed view of sunset upon KL city.
Our meal featured plenty of local produce from around Malaysia and we were grateful for the staff who did a splendid job explaining the produce being used for the night as we made our way around the kitchen. This put our meal into context and it was one of those rare moments that we didnt get information fatigue during our meal.
Our 12 course meal consisted of:
A warm cup of broth
Belinjau & Caviar
Tatus Hitam Crayfish, Bamboo Shoot
Venison
Smoked Patin
Eggs, Kelulut Honey
Eggplant, Keladi Telur Yam
Pigeon
Fermented Rice and Toddy
Banana Leaf Ice Cream
Stacks of Chocolate
Kuih Sarang Semut
Dinner was fantastic and so was the non-alcoholic pairing. We though the paring was absolutely phenomenal. It was extremely well thought out and most of the pairing was made from either the residues of the dish or a pickled/preserved version, which meant no wastage and an excellent pairing of flavours transitioning from the dish to the drink.

By the time dinner was done, the sun had set and KLCC was a basked in a gorgeous glow. This was honestly such a beautiful way to see KL and experience the local produce that Malaysia has to offer.

Booking
We booked Dewakan the moment we confirmed our flights. I checked the reservation today and there is some availability around 3 weeks out and some later slots available so if you have flexibility in your schedule, it does not seem to be too difficult to find a slot. However, we always still recommend that you make your bookings as soon as you have your itinerary confirmed to prevent disappointments. We highly recommend taking the earlier slot at 6 pm as dinner service pace is unhurried so that you get a chance to watch a gorgeous sunset and the KLCC towers lighting up.
Accessibility
Grab! That's really the easiest option around KL. Traffic can get very congested, so just remember to cater in the time required to go there. Alternatively and fortunately for us, we stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, which was a 20 min walk across the KLCC park. So we took a leisurely stroll to Dewakan from our hotel.
The Damage
870 Ringgit (Approximately 264 SGD) per pax not inclusive of drinks. We highly recommend the non-alcoholic pairing, which can be supplemented at 260 Ringgit (approximately 79 SGD) per pax.
Would we recommend?
Yes! We thought the overall value was great and the showcase of local produce was fun and easy to appreciate. On top of that, we got an excellent display of sunset over KLCC. What more can you ask for?
