Hilton Paris Opera
108 Rue Saint-Lazare
75008 Paris
France
Location
Hilton Paris Opera is nestled in a historic building just steps from Gare Saint-Lazare and is within easy reach of iconic Parisian attractions. We chose the Hilton Paris Opera because it was within walking distance to the Opera Garnier, Galeries Lafayette and Saint-Augustin church. Having both sights within walking distance and accessibility through the trains made Hilton Paris Opera a fantastic choice for us.
Once you step into Hilton Paris Opera, you are greeted by grand pillars and then a secondary Le Grand Salon. It is absolutely gorgeous. The hotel was originally opened in 1889 to accomodate the influx of international visitors travelling for the 1889 World's Fair. Over the next centuries, the hotel changed many hands before finally becoming the Hilton Paris Opera in 2015.

Our Stay
We stayed here as part of AMEX Hotels Collection which also recognised our Hilton Gold Status. During our stay, we received the following benefits:
Early Check In (12pm)
Late Check Out (4pm Guaranteed)
100 USD credit
Complimentary Upgrade (Where Available)
We were upgraded from the Superior Room (18 sqm) to the Executive Room (23 sqm) which we really appreciated. I was slightly concerned about the 18 sqm room that we initially booked and when we got to our room, I was incredibly thankful for AMEX Hotels Collection and Hilton Gold for the free upgrade. We paid 387 Euroes for the Superior Room and the Deluxe Room was going for 452 Euroes, which makes the value of the upgrade to be at 65 Euroes.
Facilities
As with many European hotels, especially the older ones, there are not too many facilities to talk about. We did check out the gym which was rather compact as well as the Executive Lounge where we had breakfast. It was again, compact and the food served was rather basic. Nothing to shout about.
Stay Credit
We received 100 USD (approximately 85 Euroes) of stay credit and spent that at both Le Grand Salon as well as Quai 108. We started our night with some cocktails at Quai 108 and then headed to the Le Grand Salon located right behind the main lobby for a second round of drinks and light bites. The Le Grand Salon features Napoleonic-style colonnades, frescoes, Scottish granite columns and beautiful crystal chandeliers. We had the delight of having a light meal and a drink at the bar, which was as beautiful as it looks.

Breakfast
Breakfast is included as part of Hilton Gold and we had our breakfast at the Executive Lounge. There was not too much to shout about, some cold cuts and some hot dishes. We will value this at the local price, which would be about 5 Euroes x 2.
In total, we received a value of approximately 160 Euroes from our stay, which is considered good.
Would We Recommend?
Yes! Hilton Paris Opera is centrally located and comfortable. In comparison to its other AMEX Hotel Collection counterparts, like the InterContinental Paris Le Grand and Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opera, it is considered to be slightly cheaper with the same ball park service. At least in comparison to InterContinental Paris Le Grand where we last stayed, Hilton Paris Opera provided breakfast.
