Location
Le Meridien, Melbourne is located at 20 Bourke Street. For those who have lived in Melbourne, you'd probably have been to this location before. Before it was Le Meridien, it was the location of the iconic Metro Nightclub which was the home to many parties from 1987 all the way until 2007 and subsequently came back as Palace Theatre, which remained as a live music venue until it closed in 2014. The building was eventually demolished in 2020 with only the facade being preserved to now having Le Meridien call it home.
The location is absolutely fantastic. Located on Bourke Street at the corner or Spring street, the tram stop is right outside the entrance of the hotel. And you have fantastic dining options around the area, including Spring Street Grocer for a cheese platter and gelato, Bar Clara for a nice cocktail, Grossi Florentino, Mamasita, Pastuso, Chin Chin, A Hereford Beefstouw, etc etc. The list goes on and you can't go wrong with these recommendations.

Our Stay
We booked the Deluxe King Room (28 sqm) and was upgraded to the Premium King Room with Parliament View (33 sqm) with our Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status. We paid 340 SGD for the Deluxe King Room and the Premium King Room with Parliament View was priced at 410 SGD. This makes it an upgrade value of 70 SGD. Apart from the beautiful sunsets we saw over the Parliament House, we also got a tub in this upgrade, which I absolutely enjoyed during this stay.

Our room was modern, clean and comfortable. We had a very good sleep and also enjoyed that there was a writing desk and a very clean tub. It was definitely an aesthetic that we liked very much.

Breakfast
I am choosing not to put pictures in for the breakfast selection. It was poor. There were live egg stations but it looked like a very unmotivated team serving breakfast. We have free breakfast as part of being a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, but I cannot imagine paying for breakfast and being served terrible food. If you do not have free breakfast as part of your hotel stay, I'd highly recommend you skip paying for breakfast and just head out to one of the many cafes to grab yourself a cheaper and much more delicious option. Regardless, we did have breakfast at Le Meridien and saved on breakfast costs, so I will keep the value of breakfast at 20 SGD x2 which is the standard cost of a breakfast in and around Melbourne.

Facilities
Le Meridien had an outdoor poor deck which was sizeable and nice. We did not use it during our stay as Melbourne often has its own weather plans. I thought it interesting that Le Meridien opted for an open air pool considering perhaps only 4 months a year, this pool would actually be useable. But regardless, if you are visiting in the summer, it is a good place to lounge after a day of shopping. The gym though was worth mentioning. All technogym equipment and well maintained. It was of a good size and definitely had a good range of equipment for all your exercises. When we were there, we barely saw anyone use the facilities.
We were given cocktail credits as a part of our stay which we used at Intermission, the open bar right by the Lobby at Le Meridien. It had theatre espresso bar vibes and was a nice place to chill and lounge before our evening plans. The bar also serves Axil coffee in the morning but we didn't get a chance to try it. Our 2 cocktails were valued around 10 SGD each.

Marriott Bonvoy Platinum would typically provide us access to the hotel lounges. However, the concept of hotel lounges in Melbourne is almost non-existent and there are only a couple of hotels that offer lounges like Melbourne Marriott and Ritz Carlton (as we already know, the brand does not grant lounge access via elite status). So if you are after maximising your stays with access to hotel lounges. Le Meridien Melbourne would not be the one for you.
In total, our benefit value for this stay was 130 SGD which is good value for a hotel price of 340 SGD.
Would We Recommend?
Yes! Le Meridien Melbourne is so conveniently located in the CBD. Most of your local eateries and bars can be accessed by foot but the tram running down Bourke Street is at your door step. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the team is helpful.
