Plu Restaurant

Suan Phlu Road

Sathon, Bangkok
10120 Thailand
The Water Library's Plu Restaurant has a Michelin Guide for quality and value. Located in a Colonial House, the venue is very much colonial meets modern. We were staying just a 10 min walk away at Banyan Tree and was glad to get a table here at Plu last minute. Our flight was delayed by 3 hours and all our original dinner plans were thrown out the window. Thankfully Plu had a slot for us at 8.30 pm.

The menu at Plu was large and showcased a variety of thai food not otherwise typically seen in a regular thai restaurant. Coming off a long flight delay, we were not terribly hungry and settled for some of their recommended dishes.
We had:
Crispy Roaster Pork Belly Served with Sweet Soy Sauce
Blue Crab and Betel Leaves Curry Served with Rice Vermicelli
Five Spice Eggs and Pork Belly Stew
Stir Fried Baegu Leaves with Egg
For our first meal in Thailand, we knew we were off to a good start. Initially skeptical because of the number of foreigners at the venue, we were soon settled by the food that was served to us. Good quality, flavourful dishes that highlighted thai cuisine in a comfortable setting, just what you need to settle yourself into a new country.
Booking
Plu is on Chope which is extremely handy. Alternatively, drop them a whatsapp and they would be able to help you with your reservation. At the time of writing, there are tables available on the weekend a week out. When we were there, the restaurant was full, so I would definitely recommend making a booking prior.
Accessibility
Located in the Sathon area and on a quiet street, unless staying near by, I would highly recommend getting a grab.
The Damage
Approximately 110 SGD for 4 pax including 4 cocktails. We thought it was good value.
Would We Recommend?
Maybe. If you are looking for something extremely local and hits the core, this is not it. But if you are looking to explore tasty Thai cuisine in a comfortable setting, this would be a great option.
