We visited the 3 Chef Hatted Amaru in Armadale, Melbourne. Amaru currently sits with a total of 19 Chef Hats and by definition of the Australian Good Food Guide, puts it in the category of "Superlative Food and Wine: Internationally Acclaimed" and worth a special journey. Similar to what you would expect from a 3 Michelin Starred restaurant.

Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa has a very rich history. The shop originates from Nagoya from 1932 and began as an eel wholesaler before opening a retail restaurant specialised in selling Unagi. The restaurant's signature dish is Ippon Unagi, which is a whole eel grilled over binchotan charcoal. The viewing window within the restaurant provides a close-up view of the chefs at work, constantly taking care of the charcoal as well as the grill to ensure the exterior has the perfect cris

We return back to Na Oh and this time for its newly launched Summer Menu. Read our previous full review of Na Oh here where we last had their Autumn menu. The Summer menu this time round is full of what Koreans consider to be a cool relief for the hot summer days.

Magpie is run by New Zealand born chef Eliot Thomas and opened in Singapore early 2025. Chef Eliot's culinary philosophy is one of gathering inspiration from his travels, as is clear from the menu and the dishes presented. It is incredibly difficult to categorise the type of food Magpie serves. It is not New Zealand, it is not asian, it is not fusion, it feels like a cumulation of inspirations around the world, which is always something exciting to see on the menu.

Our recommended accomodation when visiting Mount Dandenong is Dingleigh of Sassafras. The accomodation is nestled right in the heart of Sassafras. This means that the local shops, including the famous Miss Marples and the little Sassafras village is located a 10 minute walk away. The accomodation itself is right behind Sassafras creek and is the perfect location to access walks and hikes around the area.
